CSA Farmer/Member Agreement

Before signing up for our CSA, please read the following

Joining a CSA(Community Supported Agriculture) is a step beyond purchasing vegetables. You are entering a relationship with our farm. We will do our very best to grow top quality food just for you. When times are good, you will share in the abundance. When forces beyond our control limit what’s available, or bring down the quality, you will experience that too. When a long awaited rain comes to town and brightens up your lawn, you’ll taste the impacts of that same rain storm on your veggies. CSAs offer a deeper connection to your food, your environment, and your community.

You are committing to pay regardless of what is available. That being said, if the season ends early and we have nothing to offer, we will offer refunds or carryover credits.

By supporting our CSA, you encourage us to grow in the best ways that we can. We constantly strive for more sustainability in all aspects of our farm-from reusable packaging to growing practices. Our aim is to do right by the Earth. We believe focusing on soil health will result in healthier, tastier vegetables, while creating a farm that is more resilient to extreme weather and climate fluctuations. We are investing in the soil here to leave it better than when we arrived. For more information on how we grow, click here. Or feel free to send us specific questions.

Here’s what we are growing this season. Most of it will make it to your plate! Arugula, mustards, cabbage, napa cabbage, carrots, beets, baby kale, baby chard, spinach collards, snap peas, pea shoots, hakurei turnips, radish, daikon radish,  green beans, okra, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, hot peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, basil, summer squash, delicata, leeks, onions, garlic, scallions, kohlrabi, broccolini, gailan, lettuce(butterhead, romaine, salad mix, and mini heads), pac choi, dill, cilantro, french tarragon, thyme, mint, lemongrass and more!

When you join our CSA, you're agreeing to these terms:

  • The Spring/Summer season is 18 weeks, starting in March.

  • The share price is $20 per week for the Farmers-Fun-Pack, and $30 for the Mega-Fun Pack. The Fun-Pack is $360 for the 18 week Spring/Summer season. The Mega-Pack is $540 for the season. Payment plan available.

  • When you sign up, you're agreeing to pay for your share and submit your payments on time. You can pay the full amount up front -- which helps the farm -- or pay a deposit at sign-up and then monthly installments. The payment options are check, Venmo or Paypal (3% fee). If a payment is missed, we will notify you to discuss, and not deliver any more boxes until the payment issue is resolved.

  • We plant over 40 types of vegetables and herbs each year for CSA members. Each week's CSA box will typically contain 6 items for the small share and 8 items for the large. The small is enough to feed 1-3 people, while the large is good for 2-4. For folks who eat mostly veggies, count yourself as 2.

  • You're responsible for picking up your share every week, or designating someone else to pick up your share for you. (In that case, please make sure they know the pickup location, hours, and also know to only take the box labeled with your name. And please make sure the empty box gets back to us)

  • If you will be unable to pick up your share one week, we ask that you first try to find a friend who can take it. Another option is asking us to donate it. Our neighbors are always grateful for the fresh veggies we share. Last option would be receiving credit. You must notify us the Sunday before pick-up. We will hold your box that week, and add $20-30(depending on your share size) to your balance.

  • You can use your balance to add an extra box onto another week. Notify us the Sunday before pick up. Or spend down your balance by purchasing extra items when (and if) available, through email.

  • If you have a leftover balance over $30 at the end of the round, it does not carry over to the next round.

  • If you miss a pick-up (without scheduling a vacation hold beforehand), then the box is forfeited and the pick-up host will donate or share your box.

  • Cancellations: if you need to cancel your subscription, email us at givememelon@gmail.com. If you cancel your subscription after the first delivery, then we will issue a refund on a prorated basis.

  • Refunds: if you are dissatisfied with the CSA for any reason and would like to cancel, then we will issue a refund on a prorated basis.

  • Reusable boxes: as part of our sustainability efforts, we would like to reuse the waxed cardboard boxes for as long as possible. They also cost us $3.80 a piece. We ask that you care for them and protect them from animals, elements, and destruction.
